Heavy duty zip ties secure large bundles of electrical cables or pipes, primarily for safety, organization, and efficiency. They are employed in harsh environments with demanding weather or operating conditions — from aerospace and offshore platforms to mines and chemical plants.
What are heavy duty zip ties used for?
Heavy duty nylon and stainless steel zip ties are selected for their ability to perform under high load and environmental stress. Their tensile strength — the maximum stress a tie can withstand before breaking — makes them the right choice where standard ties would fail.
Heavy Duty Nylon Zip Ties
Heavy duty nylon zip ties are wider and longer than standard varieties. Constructed from UL approved nylon polyamide, they suit a wide range of industrial applications. Available in 14" heavy duty zip ties with 120 lb tensile strength in 10 different colors for identification purposes.
Stainless Steel Zip Ties
Stainless steel zip ties offer the highest tensile strength available — up to 350 lbs. Made from 316 marine grade steel, they are commonly used in aerospace applications containing hundreds of miles of electrical cabling. These ties withstand extreme working temperature ranges from -112°F to +1004°F.
Nine variations are available:
- 6" (200 lb or 350 lb tensile strength)
- 8" (200 lb or 350 lb tensile strength)
- 10" (200 lb or 350 lb tensile strength)
- 12" (200 lb or 350 lb tensile strength)
- 14" (200 lb or 350 lb tensile strength)
Black PVC Coated Stainless Steel Zip Ties
Highly robust with strong resistance to ageing and weathering, PVC coated stainless steel ties are frequently used in marine and mining industries due to their capability to withstand exposure to water, salt, and harsh chemicals. Working temperature range: -40°F to +302°F.
Black Epoxy Coated Stainless Steel Zip Ties
Epoxy coated ties share identical specifications and working temperature range as the PVC coated variety but feature a black head for a consistent all-black appearance.
Accessories and Installation Tools
Zip Tie Automatic Installation and Cutting Tool — This tool makes fastening and cutting numerous zip ties efficient. It accommodates ties between 0.1" and 0.5" wide. Simply insert the tie, set the required tension, release, and cut.
Cutter and Tensioning Tool for Stainless Steel Ties — For tensioning and cutting metal zip ties, a dedicated stainless steel cutter is recommended. The tool features trigger mechanisms for efficiency and cuts cleanly without leaving sharp edges.
Zip Tie Mount Saddle Bases — Secure heavy duty ties to walls or flat surfaces using screw-mounted saddle bases. Compatible with any zip ties measuring up to 0.04" wide.
